Reef Monitoring and Rehabilitation
Save the Beach Maldives is committed to the restoration and rehabilitation of coral reefs. These ecosystems are vital for biodiversity, coastal protection, and the livelihoods of communities throughout the Maldives.
Our reef monitoring programs involve regular surveys to assess coral health, identify threats such as bleaching or disease, and collect data to inform conservation strategies. We collaborate with marine biologists, students, and local dive centers to ensure accurate and consistent monitoring efforts.
Rehabilitation efforts include coral gardening and transplanting healthy coral fragments to degraded reef areas. We use sustainable and scientifically-proven methods to help restore reef structures and improve resilience. Our team also raises awareness about the importance of reef ecosystems and trains volunteers to take part in hands-on conservation work.
